Strategic Designer & Owner of The Pink Glasses Creative Studio.
I am a northwest Ohio native and USAF veteran. I spent the 6 years following high school serving in the Air Force working in Mental Health and Healthcare Administration. That experience allowed me to travel, help people, serve my country, and most importantly experience life while learning about myself as a young adult. I spent the majority of this time serving military members and their families within the suicide prevention and crisis intervention programs. This role forced me to learn so much about understanding and communicating with people from a wide variety of demographics, and the importance of forming genuine connections.
Once I left the military I worked in healthcare for several years, specializing in direct care of patients with Alzheimer’s and various forms of Dementia. Again my creativity allowed me to find alternative ways to communicate and enrich the lives of those who may struggle with traditional methods. I loved it and it was very rewarding, but inside I knew it wasn’t the career I wanted to dedicate my life to.Â
These experiences were vital to shaping who I am, how I see the world, and my dedication to learning how to approach communicating with different demographics of people. After leaving the healthcare industry, I knew I wanted to reach people in different ways and dove into exploring my creativity through education in visual communication and design. I realized quickly that being a successful designer depended on more than artistic skill, and that my previous experiences in listening to the genuine needs/wants of others and communicating would differentiate me as a strategy-based creative.Â
I saw how much time was spent helping employers and clients define these things before projects. I also realized how surprised they were that I considered more than aesthetics in my work, and how much better design work that considered these elements performed. I knew there was a need in the market for strategic design work, and that it was time for me to provide it on a larger scale. That’s what brought Pink Glasses Creative Studio to what it is today. I’m so passionate about what I do, and I love having the ability to help more brands and the people behind them achieve their goals through my work.Â
